Workshops

Workshops are considered "practice-recitals" for our students. This year they will take place from January 22 - February 12, 2005 in the FMC Recital Hall. They are divided up into one of 21 workshops consisting of all of the same instrument These provide students with the opportunity to gain performing experience and participate in musical educational experiences that they would not typically experience in a lesson.

Each workshop consists of two sections:

1. Each student will play at least one piece at the workshop (recital-ready, memorized piece preferred). Teachers are to provide constructive criticism for each performance.

2. An educational activity of the teacher's choosing. Ideas include a children's video introductin instruments of the orchestra, making hand-made instruments to form a rhythm band, playing a listening game to a piece of classical music, etc.

Annual Student & Teacher Recital

Our annual recital for teachers and students takes place every April/May. Due to the overwhelming number of students participating in our recital this year, our 2005 Recital will take place in 6 sessions occurring on 2 dates: April 24 & May 1, 2005. Please make plans to join us and view our students' accomplishments and talents throughout the year. Check back for updates.
